A new executive council for the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Germany has been elected. Kenneth Gbandi emerged as president, Kenneth Alaekwe, associate publisher of this magazine, as vice-president, RosaLyn Dressman as general secretary and Eddy Duru as assistant general secretary. Other officials elected at the annual general meeting, which took place in Cologne recently, were Kelvin Uguru (public relations officer) Johnson Adams (project officer), Adeyemi Ademuyiwa (financial secretary) and Zainab Mohammed (treasurer).

Call for support for Africans Abroad to assist their continent
Participants at a recent Berlin conference call on European governments to help the African Diaspora assist their homelands more effectively. Among suggestions made was that remittances to Africa should become tax deductible. Petar Hadji-Ristic reports
